Derrick Jones (August 8, 1977) better known by his stage name Vigilante, is American Hip-Hop Rap artist and producer. Given the stage name Vigilante due to his intellectual rebel persona that usually causes controversy. Born and raised in north central Baton Rouge, LA in the Pecan Grove area also known as Easy Town where he engaged in the typical inner city activities and realities that's  statistically predicted of most African-American male nurtured in the urban poverty-stricken cities of them U.S. He was known for having street tries to another local rapper Chris “Nussie” Jackson also from Easy Town that was allegedly murdered by Michael “Marlo Mike'' Louding an associate of Baton Rouge Rap Lil Boosie, whom was supposedly ordered by Lil Boosie as a paid hit man. Rhis is all speculations and rumored, not to be taken as legitimate. Vigilante once lived in the same neighborhood as Lil Boosie in South Baton Rouge near West Roosevelt projects where he befriend Mark Castle a long time resident of the neighborhood, whom was also murdered in south Baton Rouge unrelated to the rappers.

 

Early Life

 

Derrick Jones attended Capitol High School, which is the same high school WNBA Minnesota Lynx Guard Seimone Augustus attended. Derrick Jones later joined the U.S. Army from 1998 to 2000 and was stationed at Camp Hovey, South Korea and Fort Bragg, NC. After leaving the Army he took to the streets as he left them only to enroll at Baton Rouge Community College where he reached the Dean’s Listed and inducted in the two-year college international Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa. His academic achievement was unprecedented for a first generational non-traditional college student with his social and economical background, where it prompted college administrative officials to do a two-page article on him, his life and background for the school Annual Report. He was the first in the school history to have such and exclusive article done. He major in business while indulged himself in other academic studies such as International Relations, Law, Politics, Criminal Justice, Computer Networking and Real Estate where he received a certification as a sales agent. He briefly sat as a school senator in the Student Government Association where he received several awards for excellence in leadership and as an activity Alumni. Jones all ways believed that because of his permanent golden upper front teeth, he faced unfair bias and stereotypes that deemed him a thug and drug dealer. He made it a personal mission to over achieve and excel in academics to prove that even street thugs could not only be educated but surpass their oppositions.
He has stated that even with all is outstanding work he still haven’t received the respect that he feels he rightfully deserve, stating that “I’m a problematic revolutionary person that strike an unusual distrust, apprehension and fear in folks because thugs are dangerous, but a fearless educated thugs with an awaken conscious and 360 degrees of spiritual and emotional intelligence is infinitely dangerous”.


Derrick Jones began redirecting himself in Moorish esoteric science and pseudo-science studies, which he had been introduced to by friends from New Jersey and New York that were members of Dr. Malachi Dwight York’s Nuwaubian Nation or Nuwaubian movement, after they learned Derrick Jones had visited Nellis Air Force Base infamously known as Area 51 as a joint Air Force Army mission while stationed at Fort Bragg NC. They convinced him to visit the Nuwaubian Compound in Eatonton, GA. During the time the leader was jailed awaiting trail for child sexual charges among others.


He decided to attend Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, IA but left after one semester because he believed is was close to being a secluded cult. He moved to Iowa City, where he lived for a year and he met members of the Gangster Disciple Street Gang of Chicago due to the demolition of the Cabrini–Green Housing Project, many of the residents moved to Iowa where opportunities were more prevalent in contrast to Chicago.
After launching an Internet based finance and alternative energy company , which didn’t, do well he moved back to Baton Rouge only for a few months then move to North Carolina where he now resides.

 

Music Career

 

Although he has a long history of making music as a local unknown artist he has a short musical resume.  His most recent works is a digital released mixtape album “Tears Of A Proletarian” which could be download on websites such as Spotify, Itunes, Google Play, Rhapsody and Amazon.com.


Personal life


Derrick Jones spends his days in the studio recording music traveling the eastern seaboard of the U.S. and running a small food service business. While not dedicating himself to work he still attend college course.
